Invisalign can be an excellent orthodontic choice for many patients, but it isn't right for everyone. Our dentists will assess these candidacy factors with you during your Invisalign consultation:
Degree of Misalignment
These clear aligners are designed to address cases of mild to moderate misalignment. If your teeth are more seriously misaligned, you will likely need treatment with traditional orthodontics. We can connect you with an orthodontist in Vancouver if we determine that Invisalign isn't the best choice for you.
TMJ Disorder or Grinding
Because TMJ disorder and grinding can affect the health of your teeth and gums, it needs to be treated before we can consider clear aligners. Fortunately, typical TMJ oral appliance therapy is a lot like wearing Invisalign — so it will easily get you into the habit. It also has the added benefit of protecting your teeth from breakage or even infection.
